Sony has officially launched its new range of Xperia smartphones – the Xperia tipo and Xperia tipo dual. The phone’s display is made of mineral glass and is scratch resistant. It comes with Android v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and is powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor coupled with an Adreno 200 GPU. The Xperia tipo dual is the first Dual-SIM Xperia device. The only difference between the two sets is the dual SIM feature of tipo dual.

Major features of Xperia tipo include:

  • 3.2-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot
  • GPS with A-GPS
  • Bluetooth version 2.1 with A2DP
  • 3.15 megapixel camera
  • 2.9GB internal storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD
  • 1500mAh battery

The Sony Xperia tipo has a price tag of Rs. 9,999, while its dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) cousin Xperia tipo dual comes with a Rs.10,499 price tag.
