Sailfish OS powered smartphone – Jolla officially launched (Video)
Sailfish operating system is based on MeeGo software, which Nokia abandoned in 2011 when it switched over to using Windows phone OS. When it comes to apps, the phone gets you best of both worlds – super intuitive Sailfish OS apps and the latest Android™ apps.
The phone comes with 4.5-inch Estrade (540×960 pixels) display, and is powered by a 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. It features an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with an LED flash and there is a 2-megapixel front-facing camera as well. It has 16GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD card. It comes packed with a 2100mAh battery.
Jolla has received around 50,000 pre-orders for the device. The phone is launched in Finland and will be available in 135 countries.
