Looks like rumors about RIM working on a music service of its own were indeed true.The so called BBM Music has been officially announced by the company and is to become RIM’s alternative to Google Music, Apple’s iCloud and Amazon’s Cloud Drive. A closed beta trial of the BBM Music service is starting on Thursday in Canada, the United States and the UK, the company said.

The music service is expected to be commercially available to customers later this year for a monthly subscription of $4.99 in a number of countries, it said.Limited beta testing of BBM Music is starting today, and if everything goes as planned, the service will be made available to BlackBerry users later this year in exchange of a $5 monthly subscription.
