Mercury launches a new 7 -inch tablet in India, running on gingerbread.Calls it m-pad.
The latest addition to the entry level budget laptops segment is the m-pad from Mercury. Mercury is a prominent brand in computer peripherals and is especially known for its motherboards. The tablet segment is a new venture for mercury and it seems to have done well with its new product.The m-pad’s usp is its Rs 9499 price tag.
The mTab, is based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and features a 1.2 GHz 3-core processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB inbuilt storage with an expandable memory of up to 32 GB.The 7 inch TFT LCD touchscreen is capacitive with WVGA resolution, a 4000 mAh battery,3g,wifi.There is a 1.3 mp front facing camera for video conferencing and a HDMI port.
The specs look good on paper,and give the m-tab an edge over its closest competitor the beetel magiq, which has a 1GHz processor and runs on android froyo.The m-pad is comparable to the Reliance 3g tab, though the later costs Rs 13.000/-
The m-tab has heated up the entry level tablet market and we may see many new launches in this segement in the days to come.
