While there have been plenty of rumors about Apple launching an iPhone 7 Pro this year, it seems unlikely that it is going to happen. Reliable leaker @evleaks has tweeted the codenames of the two iPhones that Apple will be launching this year: Sonora and Dos Palos.
Despite numerous reports and leaked images of an iPhone 7 Pro, it does seem unlikely that Apple would launch a third iPhone variant this year. Not only will this convolute Apple’s simple iPhone lineup, the iPhone 7 Pro simply does not offer enough compelling reasons for anyone to upgrade to it.
The 2 (two!) 2016 iPhone models are codenamed Sonora and Dos Palos.

While the Smart Connector at the rear of the device will allow it to connect to accessories like the Smart Keyboard, they make little sense for a device with a 5.5-inch screen. If it would have, the company would have also launched an iPad mini Pro earlier this year. Apple tests a variety of iPhone prototypes in its labs, and it is likely that the rumor about the iPhone 7 Pro stems from there. Additionally, the difference between an iPhone 7 Plus and Pro would only be the inclusion of Smart Connector on the latter, which is not enough to warrant a third new model.
Do you think it would be a good idea for Apple to release an iPhone 7 Pro with Smart Connector at its rear? Will you buy one if it does?
