Researchers at IBM are working on technology that would understand our thoughts. To be more specific they are working on sensors that would understand and read electrical brain activity.
Emotiv has several sensors sitting on your head, that actually read electrical brain impulses. For example, using Emotiv’s software, you can see a cube on your computer screen and think about moving it to the left, and it will.
Scientists at UC Berkeley have designed and developed a special MRI scan that can model our visual thoughts both while we are awake, but even more intriguingly, while we are dreaming.
IBM has predicted that by the year 2017, using our brain impulses we would be in a position to transmit commands to our smartphones, thus allowing us to perform functions such as making a phone call or even typing up a message simply by thinking about it.
