German auto maker Audi has officially announced that they are working together with Google to develop in-car entertainment and information systems that runs on Android OS. The announcement of this Android based in-car system is expected to take place at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next week.
Google and Audi are also planning to bring in other companies like chip manufacturer Nvidia to make this Android-powered system work better. With this collaboration, drivers and passengers access important functions such as navigation, apps and music, in the car, just like they do on their Android smartphones.
Last year, Apple had announced integrate of iOS and iPhones, amongst other iDevices, with the car makers’ dashboard control panel itself. Apple has gained support from BMW, Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz division, General Motors and Honda for the feature.
