Kristoffer Von Hassel, a 5-year-old boy was able to hack into his father’s Xbox Live account. What the young kid did was that after booting up an Xbox One, he would incorrectly enter his father’s password. The incorrect attempt would take him to second verification screen, where he’d use the space button trick to log on.
In an interview with local news station KGTV, Kristoffer said: “I was like yea!”. He also added “I got nervous. I thought he was going to find out,”.
Dad Robert, sent this flaw details to Microsoft immediately. The company has fixed the flaw, and added Kristoffer to its list of recognized security researchers. They also rewarded the boy with four games, $50 and a yearlong subscription to Xbox Live.
“We’re always listening to our customers and thank them for bringing issues to our attention,” Microsoft said in a statement. “We take security seriously at Xbox and fixed the issue as soon as we learned about it.”
