Apple releases “iOS 5 Beta 2″ for Developers
Apple unleashed the iOS 5 Beta 2 for the developers on Friday . The latest beta release brings WiFi sync to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch unit.
Its seen that :
- With the help of iTunes 10.5 beta 2, and iOS 5 beta 2, wireless iTunes sync now works very well.
- Notifications on the lockscreen are re-looked,they are now much bigger for a single alert, then shows in the list view for multiple alerts.
- iMessage now only works with iOS beta 2 both ways and including that it’s super fast. Might be that Apple has changed their servers that they used for this.
WiFi Sync was one such features that was talked about, with that also to allow the iOS 5 users to sync their devices to their iTunes libraries without use of any computer. WiFi Sync is automatically activated when the iOS device is connected to a power source.
In this iOS 5.0 beta 2, wireless syncing can be through Mac, it just requires iTunes 10.5 beta 2 and OS X 10.6.8 or Lion. There is an option to enable wireless syncing when we connect our device to iTunes with the USB cable. Its better we perform our initial sync with a cable after restoring our device.
Wireless syncing starts automatically when the device is connected to power source and on the same network as the paired computer .Or, we can manually start the sync from iTunes or from Settings–>> General –>> iTunes Sync. It should be seen that the device is connected to power sources when the following steps r taken.
If there are some problems with apps, media and/or photos synced to your device, you can reset then resync. From Settings –>> General –>> Reset, choose Erase all Content and Settings. Then reconnect to iTunes and sync again.
In this beta, iTunes may incorrectly report Photos as “Other” in the capacity bar. Photo syncing otherwise works as expected.
It is unclear whether any of the other over 200 features were released in the latest update.
