Intel powered smartphones starting at Rs 7,000 to be launched in India soon

Intel, popularly known for its semiconductor chips is all set to launch budget smartphones in India. In partnership with handset makers, Intel would launch smartphone which would cost as low as Rs.7,000.

Intel had already launched one of its smartphones – the XOLO X900 in partnership with Lava. The upcoming smartphones will feature Android operating system and would be available in the market by the middle of 2013.

Debjani Ghosh, Managing Director, South Asia at Intel Corporation said:

“The first handset with Lava that we launched was a premium one. We learnt that it was important to have a portfolio and offer choice to the user. We will not have entry-level handsets but our smartphone range will be priced upwards of Rs 7,000,”
