Experience Google Mars in a new way
The story goes some 3 years back, the developers of Google Earth wanted to do something new and they introduced a new feature in Google Earth 5 which included Mars as a part. Now it’s got an update. Google Mars is same as Google Earth but the thing is that now you get latest images of the red planet downloaded by NASA – with just a few hours of delay.
With Mars in Google Earth, you can:
- View images downloaded by NASA just hours ago, in the Live from Mars layer
- Take an interactive tour of Mars, narrated by Public Radio’s Ira Flatow or Bill Nye the Science Guy
- View 3D rover models and follow their tracks to see high-resolution 360-degree panoramas
- Search for famous Martian landmarks, such as the Face on Mars or Olympus Mons
Discovery News reported that the update includes images from the Context Camera on NASA’s sharp-eyed Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, with a resolution of about 20 feet per pixel.
