Microsoft has invited press for some major announcement they are going to make on Monday June  18th in Los Angeles, but has not not offered much in way of hints.

Microsoft has promised it will be a “major Microsoft announcement.” While it didn’t have any more to say than that, but there is a rumor that the event will focus on Windows RT for ARM-based tablets, and that Microsoft will be showing off devices running the OS as well as some of the programs and services that will be available for them. The company’s Windows Phone summit does follow later that week, and there’s been no shortage of Microsoft-related rumors as of late, including a possible acquisition of Yammer. Microsoft may pay more than $1 billion, and a deal may be reached as soon. By doing this deal it would help Microsoft, the world’s largest software maker, add social-networking tools to the suite of products it offers corporate customers.
