Apple has recently won a case against Samsung ordering the Korean firm to pay $1.05 billion in damages and now Apple’s legal representatives are going to ask the U.S. Federal Judge Lucy H. Koh to triple the damages Samsung has been ordered to pay after patent case to $3 billion.
This is the biggest ever damage payment sought in a technology patent dispute, multiple legal sources told The Korea Times, Wednesday.
[box_dark]“By using that condition, Apple has decided to request the judge to order Samsung to pay more than $3 billion in the hearing on the San Jose verdict on Sept. 21 in California,’’ one senior legal executive, who asked to be quoted as a “reliable source.’’[/box_dark]
The finding of what legal officials say is “willful infringement’’ enables Apple to seek triple the damages awarded. Now it upto the court to decide whether to increase the damages that Samsung has to pay Apple.
