Inc. (AMZN) unveiled an Android-powered Kindle tablet aimed at taking on Apple’s bestselling iPad with smaller and less than half the price.

The Kindle Fire will have a 7-inch display and sell for $199. The device offers Wi-Fi connectivity and comes with a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime, the company’s $79-a-year membership service that includes streaming video and free two-day shipping.The Kindle Fire doesn’t have an embedded camera or a microphone.

Since it will run on Android, it will presumably be able to play movies, music, games as well as let people read books.
